[Travel] M Boutique Hotel @ Ipoh
8:27:00 PMThis time I will be sharing my experience in this acoustic urban design's hotel - M Boutique Hotel at Ipoh, Malaysia. I traveled to this hotel in mid of the year 2015 with my colleagues.
I can't say that this is the best hotel or the most prettiest design in the state or country whatever. As I have not explore all the hotels all over the state yet the country. As I know is very unique and they called it - Straits Eclectic Architecture.
This trip was mainly sponsored by my current company as a designer's trip for us to explore and get inspiration for our future designs, so of course to do some research on it and feel the concept, materials, ideas, details and the decorations. Experience how people constructs with vintage stuffs that left over from olden days.
If you were the person whom always travel around in Malaysia, I'm sure you heard about this hotel before and you will be googling this hotel and find out a lot of photos of it. There are many people taking beautiful pictures better than mine and yeah, I'm not a good photography yet improving myself. *please forgive*
Let me have a short introduction of M Boutique Hotel. Firstly is the most important key, Design Theme and Concept. Basically, it was something about some vintage and urban styles. It was an act of Malaysia's Colonial past and modern urban decor, bringing out the vintage urban culture in the modern century. You will definitely feel the atmosphere and things that rewind your best memories.
This boutique hotel's concept referred from whimsically, quirky and unique-ness that you never be seen in other boutique hotel, in Malaysia. Somehow you might feel the young of heart from the 93 chic's century. It ordinary designed by the Young family of M Boutique Hotel. (this is what I understand from they website)
From what I most enjoyed in this boutique hotel was I really relax my mind from the busy city and I do feel the vintage hard working days of the old people yet I feel the casual young of this designer. Something that I don't really know how to express it here, or it might be a successfully concept that everyone can accept it.
The Colonial Brasserie's inspiration are originate from Oldtown White Coffee. It also selected to built above the typical restaurant.
It feels like I'm travelling in overseas that provides Self-service Gymnasium and Laundry! What an unique service with so much care of what's the guest needs for! Love it! But ended up, I din't use the facilities lol!
I lost some of my images therefore there will be some google image from other people, that's why I did not watermark my name, Do forgive.
The purpose of sharing this experience to the network is it's really an good experience in an unique hotel with unique designs! Feel the ambiance, the environment, the details, the decorations, the meticulous, care, attentive of the team that commission the whole concept!
Not to crap much, photos time! But firstly, I got images from google because I din't take pictures of the lobby and exterior, here u go!
This will be the lobby waiting area, they used the color of beige, marrom brown, wood, dark wood, and black for the theme.
The counter on the left and the lift lobby at the right.
They collected lots of the vintage luggage bag as decorations.
And, they sell their cloth and baskets in the hotel.
They do sell candles as well, with their own brand. Look at the right, there's a banner written that breakfast at Old Town White Coffee, it's location right beside the hotel.
Candles by them with their logo on it.
Entrace, image from interior. Do you feel the modern vintage concept?
Entrance from exterior, and of course a portrait in front of it!
Beside the entrance, they do have a small store sells clothing, pillows and stuffs by them.
Alright, let's see the hotel room.
Walkway through your room, all the walls with bricks, its real bricks and some wordings.
It is urban kind of style with all the raw materials, walls, lightings, flooring.
There's also a corner for you in front of the lift. Spot the wall background, every floors have different categories and this floor will be adventure floor, 1st floor. They do list out the room numbers and some symbol of the category. Creative ya!
This is one of the special things we never seen in those 5 star hotels, they usually have a typical normal room number pasted on the wall. M Boutique used an unique way to present the room numbers with simple black frame and a spotlight on it to focus.
We booked 3 rooms, firstly was this big room for 3 pax.
A living area, TV console at the back, a queen bed for 2 pax and the right was an additional bed.
Vintage UK flag's luggage and pillow. Its exactly a western vintage concept! You definitely feel that you are traveling in oversea!
Sofa with all the detailing on it.
TV console at the side, they make use of all the space and all the walls with wording.
View from bed to the entrance, at the side is a mirror, that's definitely ladies' favorites!
They do have each room a photography of an animal in the photo frame.
And this was the link room beside the big room, it's double-decker bed room that perfectly for man! So they dont feel disgusting sleeping together on a queen bed!
Not forgetting a TV console even it's small room. Their decorations were prepared well.
Even the tag for room make up service are special.
The last room will be the normal doubled-bed room. Its actually a single bed with queen-sized bed for accommodation of 3 pax so that you don't feel its too pack for 3 pax with a queen-sized bed.
In this room, they don't have TV console but they do have the dressing table and a small wardrobe.
2 little luggage box in front of the bed, it can be open I think you can put whatever you want but I did not because I definitely forget to take haha!
They do prepared 3 of this for you, so caring! So that you can wear it after bath or anything, if you are cold as well.
Not forgetting the group photos we had taken in the hotel! These are my designer colleagues!
